MIG Welder
An established engineering manufacturer in Marden is recruiting two MIG Welders on a temp-to-perm basis to support production and reduce backlog. The essential requirement is practical MIG welding experience. Basic fabrication skills are needed to prepare, position and finish straightforward components from engineering drawings.

Fabricator 2: £30,060.72; Fabricator 3: £32,884.44; Fabricator 4: £34,068.72 (40-hour salary basis)
Hours
06:00 to 16:30, Monday to Thursday
Overtime
Friday at 1.33 times the normal rate; Saturday overflow at 1.5 times the normal rate if Friday has been worked
Breaks
Arrangements vary by work area; standard guidance is a 15-minute tea break and 30-minute lunch

The Role
You will complete MIG welding on production components and carry out the basic fabrication needed to prepare, position and finish the work. You will follow drawings and specifications, secure parts correctly, complete welds in the required positions, and inspect each component before it moves to the next production stage.
Main Responsibilities
- Read engineering drawings and specifications, then plan the basic preparation and welding sequence.
- Select the tools and equipment needed for each job and set up the work safely.
- Lay out, position and secure straightforward parts and assemblies to the required specification.
- Complete MIG welds in flat, vertical and horizontal positions and carry out brushing, grinding and visual inspection.
- Use simple templates, jigs or work aids to hold and align parts where required.
- Carry out routine equipment checks and identify when maintenance or repair is needed.
- Inspect equipment, structures and materials to identify errors, defects or other problems.
- Meet production times and quality standards while following site procedures and health and safety requirements.
Skills and Experience
- Recent practical MIG welding experience in a manufacturing, engineering or production environment.
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Basic fabrication skills, including component preparation, positioning, securing, grinding and finishing.
- Confident, safe use of MIG welding equipment and relevant workshop tools.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect each component as it is prepared.
- Good hand-eye coordination and a consistent focus on quality.
- Clear communication and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable time management and flexibility to meet production requirements.
Working Environment
The role involves prolonged standing, repeated hand and wrist movements, close visual inspection, precise equipment control, lifting and handling materials, and regular bending, stretching, twisting and reaching. Applicants should be comfortable with the normal physical demands of a workshop-based welding role.
