Are you looking to take the next step in your engineering or manufacturing career? This Quality Inspector / Trainee role is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in precision inspection, quality control and continuous improvement within a high-tech environment.

As a Quality Inspector / Trainee, you’ll play a key role in ensuring components and assemblies meet exacting standards using Faro Arm, CMM, and a variety of metrology equipment. You’ll contribute to customer satisfaction and right-first-time manufacturing, while building experience in problem-solving and quality tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect components and assemblies using CMM, Faro Arm and hand tools
  • Visually inspect welds and finished goods for conformity
  • Record defects and non-conformance, supporting root cause and corrective actions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities and quality initiatives
  • Validate components using various test methods
  • Track and update KPIs to support quality targets
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver consistent product standards

Requirements

Essential:

  • At least 3 years in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and quality process tools (FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa, etc.)
  • Proficient in using CMM/Faro Arm and hand metrology equipment
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) and qualified to BTEC/HNC/HND level in a mechanical/manufacturing discipline

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of vacuum systems or fabrication/welding processes
  • Previous experience in the vacuum industry
  • Confident delivering technical feedback and supporting customer quality standards
