As a Quality Inspector / Trainee, you’ll play a key role in ensuring components and assemblies meet exacting standards using Faro Arm, CMM, and a variety of metrology equipment. You’ll contribute to customer satisfaction and right-first-time manufacturing, while building experience in problem-solving and quality tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect components and assemblies using CMM, Faro Arm and hand tools
- Visually inspect welds and finished goods for conformity
- Record defects and non-conformance, supporting root cause and corrective actions
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and quality initiatives
- Validate components using various test methods
- Track and update KPIs to support quality targets
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver consistent product standards
Requirements
Essential:
- At least 3 years in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment
- Experience with ISO 9001 and quality process tools (FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa, etc.)
- Proficient in using CMM/Faro Arm and hand metrology equipment
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) and qualified to BTEC/HNC/HND level in a mechanical/manufacturing discipline
Desirable:
- Knowledge of vacuum systems or fabrication/welding processes
- Previous experience in the vacuum industry
- Confident delivering technical feedback and supporting customer quality standards
