Instrument Technician
Location: near East Hoathly, East Sussex
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday–Friday, full-time, permanent
Are you an experienced Instrument Technician with strong electro-mechanical assembly and testing skills? This is an opportunity to join a leading scientific instrument manufacturer supplying precision vacuum systems to a global customer base.
You’ll work as part of a small, skilled production team, assembling, wiring, testing, and calibrating complex instruments. The role involves both hands-on mechanical and electrical work, interpreting engineering drawings, and performing final inspections to ensure products meet exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and test precision vacuum instruments from kits of parts.
- Carry out electro-mechanical wiring, soldering, and calibration.
- Perform fault-finding, repairs, and occasional site installations.
- Maintain accurate production and test records.
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
Ideal Candidate
- Background in electro-mechanical assembly or test engineering.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Competent with hand tools, test meters, and inspection gauges.
- Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering (advantageous).
- Full UK driving licence and own transport (rural site).
