Assembly Fitter
Location: Marden, Kent
Contract: Temporary to permanent
Hours: 06:00-16:30, Monday to Thursday
Pay: £30k-£36k dependant on experience
Role Overview
A well-established engineering manufacturer is recruiting Assembly Fitters to support production capacity and backlog reduction. The role involves fitting and assembling mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems within a structured production environment, with a strong focus on quality, safety and efficient build methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit and assemble fabricated parts and sub-assemblies.
- Set up hydraulic and electrical systems, including pressure testing.
- Install hydraulic and pneumatic pipework, valves, pumps and motors.
- Lay, connect and secure wiring looms and complete basic electrical checks.
- Carry out fault diagnosis, dismantling and replacement of defective components.
- Fit mechanical fixings, hydraulic adapters, electrical plugs and terminals accurately.
- Use air tools, socket sets and other appropriate workshop equipment safely.
- Support engineering changes and BOM variance activity where required.
- Maintain high standards of build quality, housekeeping and safe working.
Experience Required
- Technical apprenticeship, engineering training or strong practical assembly/fitting experience.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical assembly; exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics or vehicle/equipment electrics is useful.
- Ability to read instructions, work accurately and solve practical build issues.
- Good attention to detail, time management and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable with a physically active role involving standing, awkward components and occasional confined-space work, with lifting aids provided where appropriate.
Shift & Overtime
- Core shift: 06:00-16:30, Monday to Thursday.
- Break pattern varies by area and normally includes a 15-minute tea break and 30-minute lunch.
- Friday overtime, where available, is paid at 1.33x the base rate.
- Saturday overtime, where applicable after Friday has been worked, is paid at 1.5x the base rate.
